It is an obvious tactic to keep her away from interviews and unscripted situations. How long will the honeymoon last? It seems implausible that Harris can go from being one of the most unpopular VPs and even disliked by Democrats, to being the candidate they need. The relief that Biden is no longer running will wear thin at some point. The question is, have they timed their run from the coup to the election correctly?

A tragically flawed human being with a fifty year record of cheating, grifting, chiselling and commercial and interpersonal dishonesty, fraud, bankruptcy, and tax evasion got elected at least partly as a result of Russian interference in the 2016 election.

He did not divest himself of his business interests, continually breached the emoluments clause to enrich himself and save a number of failing ventures, provided tax cuts which further enriched him and his billionaire friends and increased the national debt by trillions of dollars (more than all previous administrations combined), and handed the next administation an economy in tatters.

His response to the global pandemic reflected his indolence, ignorance, and willingness to embrace quackery rather than take professional advice resulted in economic and social disaster, with the US (5% of global population), suffering 20% of global deaths - by some calculations 800,000 more that would have occurred with a rational response.

Despite an approach to the migrants which was extraordinary cruel and callous, his refusal to recognise and address the factors causing it, resulted in a wave of illegal entries over the Southern border, and he sabotaged the most comprehensive legislation to address the crisis in thirty years in order to ensure that he could attack Democrats over the issue.

His actions in the foreign policy area were reflective of his personal character flaws. His admiration for 'strong' leaders resulted in a numbr of questionable interactions with US adversaries. He undermined NATO and handed over the 'problems' in the middle east to his son in law, who profited by being handed control of a 2 Billion dollar hedge fund despite being totally unqualified.

When he faced the prospect of losing the 2020 election, he engineered a multilevel fraudulent conspiracy involving fake electors, and coercion of election officials in an effort to corrupt the election, and when that failed, encouraged a violent insurrection and a violent mob to invade the capitol to 'stop the steal'. While the mob rampaged though the capitol, seeking to murder his political opponents, he watched on TV for three hours, encouraging them by text.

His practices in dealing with classified and sensitive information were both undisciplined and arguably illegal, and when he eventually left the White House, he took dozens of boxes of classified and sensitive information, stored them insecurely and refused to return them. He lied and cheated and obstructed justice when they were subpoenaed, and further obstructed the FBI's efforts to investigate the matter. He further breached the Espionage Act and arguably endangered US security by disclosing the contents of some documents to unauthorised persons.

His personal morality is similarly unsuited to office. He has told more than 20,000 lies in the course of his presidency, and continues to lie about matters that he believes will advantage or disadvantage him. he is an adjudicated rapist, with a long and abundantly documented history of abusing and degrading women.
