I guess we could afford the tax gift to landlords though?

Reduce demand in the economy at a time when it was needed.
Its's roughly the same time that the exodus to Australia began along with the degradation of NZ. Luxon, a multi-millionaire thinks more of the same is the answer.
Kiwis out -> Migrants in.

Reversing what the Labour government did ain’t no gifts. Just as reversing Ardern’s climate change self promoting nuclear moment now that we have an energy crisis courtesy of the stupid *itch.
Stop energy exploration so we import gas from overseas! She sure is one dumb *itch!
So you are ready & happy to descend to bashing and abusing those who worked hard, saved hard, invest wisely and provide much needed accommodation/housing?

Gift? Gift is when someone gives something for very little return or for nothing. Landlords provide a service and the Labour government imposed an envy tax on them. A tax is theft when it is taken by a spendthrift government and given away to beneficiaries for no good reason.
Gift is the money given to beneficiaries for doing fxxk all.

The fact is the government reinstated a tax break. The rest of your rant is just that - a rant.

What tax break?
That a business can deduct interest expense from income?
No tax break there.
The tax break is that all NZ governments do not have the courage to impose a CGT - especially Ardern & Hipkins. Every other OECD country has one.

John MacDonald provides a definition of beneficiary bashing in this article and the comments on here fit in that definition. The government didn’t use the actual words, but they have given some members of the public permission to direct hostility towards beneficiaries, and make unacceptable comments about beneficiaries.
John MacDonald: What's all this talk about beneficiary-bashing?
It’s not beneficiary bashing. If it was beneficiary bashing, the Prime Minister and the Social Development Minister would have come out yesterday and said something like ‘anyone on a benefit is a no-hoper bludging off the system’.
That would be beneficiary bashing.

When beneficiaries are referred to as ‘clients’, welfarism has gone completely woke & broke.

What is the 2.3billion accommodation allowance? a gift to landlords? and now with the interest deductibility gone $2.9bill less tax revenue. I can see why National need to crack down on beneficiaries.
What is targeted inflation except a gift to landlords. Is a 3% inflation rate helpful to renters cost of living crisis.

Note 8 page 74 makes interesting reading and may help put things into perspective a bit more.
Although a bit insulting National Superannuation is listed along with transfer payments and subsidies, from what I read it is not welfare but some special right that people over 65 have even if they don't need it.
Although I would tend to agree if a person is too fu*king lazy to go to an interview I resent paying them anything, although it might be cheaper than incarcerating them.
To suggest Ardern and Robertsons pathetic pandering to landlords and homeowners re capital gains tax is different to any other brown nosing political leader in NZ is a bit rich.
