I watched the video which was Pete Buttigieg on Kamala Harris’s Campaign, VP Vetting, & JD Vance | The Daily Show. It is not the type of thing I normally watch. I didn’t know who Pete Buttigieg was.
So, my impression was politics as entertainment, politics as a game, just as sport is opium for the masses, in American politics you back your team to win.

Politics is portrayed as a game, as a sport, as opium for the masses, to make you feel like a winner when you are actually loser in society, and in politics, because the elites are running the show, and sports distracts the working classes from real economic issues.
