Wellllllll you'd probably have to put a time disclaimer on that. We have population growth after-all. It's not exponential but it is there. Have we ever had more than 2 in the past? I remember 3 guys, foodtown, big fresh.... But no idea about the ownership models if we ever had more than 2 separate grocery store entities.

We used to have 3 big grocery chains before 2002.

Note that the 'Woolworths group' referred to in this article was not related 'Australian Woolworths' which now owns the 'Countdown' brand and has been rebranding all the 'Countdown' stores in NZ to 'Woolworths'.
