Russia Outlines The Future Of International Order At UN Security Council Meeting
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuWo2vZwtyk

28:07 It seems that the Russians would rather want to move away from sanctions in general which of course is in line with what Mr Putin said and told also Mr Kim Jong-un of North Korea that they will not support sanctions anymore so we can expect the Russians to veto from now on any kind of United Nations security Council sanction ideas so the sanctions mechanism will in in the very near future be constrained to unilateral sanctions only.

Mr Lavrov of course speaks about diplomacy and the need for good diplomacy. This is where he of course differs very, very much from all of his Western counterparts which still to this point this day reject diplomatic approaches toward ending the war in Ukraine because they still reject direct negotiations with the Russians even though Vladamir Zelinskyy seems to indicate that now in the next peace summit the Russians should be invited but overall nobody has picked up Vladimir Putin on his negotiation offers that he has been iterating time and again.

The second last point the UN Charter is still the backbone of what the Russians think about for the future world which is also something the Chinese repeat, which is something even NATO countries repeat, the centrality of the UN Charter which gives me hope that at least on this point we have we have an agreement.

Nobody wants to get rid of the UN, nobody wants to get rid of the charter and everybody agrees that this is still the best framework we've got. And we've got to work with it and under it so that's one point of agreement of all of these diplomats and powers meaning, also that's why it still works, that's why still everybody goes to the UN Security Council, this is why Mr Lavrov is able to travel to New York because the United States for all the ways that it tries to influence International politics it doesn't want to torpedo the UN even though it tries to influence it very, very much, it doesn't try to sink the UN as an institution.

Last but not least, Mr Lavrov recognizes the importance of the of the United Nations neutrality as an institution. The UN cannot take sides. The UN is supposed to be impartial to all of its members hence everything that comes from the UN has to always reflect everybody's viewpoint. And Mr Lavrov is fine with that.

Hence the importance that the actual administrative institutions function more or less impartially in order to fulfill their heir function as a platform the UN is a platform. And although the UN in the ideal world would be the top- down kind of world government and bring peace to all of us that's not what it is at this point.

The UN is a platform and the best thing it can do in the future is to continue working as such a platform and create mechanisms of exchange just like the one that we have just seen in front of us where even those who hate each other are forced to listen to the other side and engage in diplomacy.
