    "the farmers who do have spare feed may not have to pay as much for the beasts they plan to fatten up over the winter months. So the PGW GoLivestock balance may be reduced as a result of that"

    No,beef prices will be higher with a shortage of stock likely.Works already indicating $6.50/kg later in winter

    Good to hear.

    Higher beef prices
    => Higher prices paid at auction for cattle
    => Higher commission income for PGG Wrightson Livestock
    => More capital needed to support 'GoLivestock' (the only negative)
    BUT ultimately farmers are better off
    => More money spent on the retail side of the PGW business
    => EBITDA increases
    => ability to support today's higher company debt increases
    => less need to conserve capital = 'dividends restored' YAY!

    The 'virtuous circle' circles back.

    Because of Nutritional value, Affordability and reliability chicken has become number 1 protein in the world. Consumers are chasing for lower cost proteins like eggs for their protein and nutritional value.

    From last Friday's Silver Fern Farms Ltd fortnightly newsletter;
    At home we are getting very good demand from local retailers, on steak cuts and secondary cuts.

    Alongside our branded on-shelf retail packs, we supply beef to in-store butcheries who may further process and sell to consumers under their own brands. Supermarkets are keen to align with us for these requirements, and we are working hard to service their needs.

    Good couple of days, but not sure why? Is it on the back of the export numbers? In particular benefitting from strenghtening US economy? Or is it a more general sentiment that the price went too low based on the board room shennanigans?

    I think you will find that beef prices are higher, exactly because people can afford to buy. If they could not, beef prices would be lower. Demand/Supply
