1,2,3 Panic!
Nobody has pointed out that the reduction in copper prices won't take place until December next year.
The lesson I learnt in 1987 where you don't know what is going to happen is to sit on your hands.
The fact will turn out to be somewhere (halfway?) between the Panic and the starting point of the Panic.
At that point it will still have a very good dividend yield which means eventually a much higher price than the Panic.
I see DB as dividend yield at 13.2% ...... must be a BUY
Bad news sells papers.
Good news makes shares increase in value (see PEB); bad news and they sink like a stone (CNU)
And every time the bad news hit the uninformed masses jump in with their 2 cents worth of self interest showing distinct loathing "for the fat cat capitalists (you and me) who profit at the expense of the underpaid masses and therefore deserve to be punished."
See the replies to the NZ Herald editors article for examples: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/ar...ectid=11151984
And in this case the opposition parties are also joining in purely for political point scoring reasons.
According to the NZX 15 Chorus is one of the top 15 companies in the NZ market. Shareholders therefore presumably include anyone who has shares in a passive fund. And probably a fair number of Kiwi Saver schemes. And there is also the NZ Governments shareholding as well.
Does anyone know a fair minded journalist who would like to research the shareholders and point out that it is entirely likely that ALL New Zealanders, not just us "Fat Cats", who are being punished by this?

Own 1,200 CNU shares and
Really looking forward to our ancient copper lines, that have a tendency to break down, being upgraded to RBI broadband by July 2015!
Morningstar are crap i agree. First share i bought was fonterra, i read they said dont buy on ipo maybe wait till it goes on market and get if it hits 4something, which they said it probably woukd, so based on there recomendation i only got half what i was entitled to ipo, bought at 550 sold at 800. Since then i have taken a interest in there recomendations and they are laughable at best, the other day they said mrp is one of the best buys to have at the moment. Now there valuation of cnu is crazy.
Morningstar are a joke at valuing stock imo, do the opposite and you cant go wrong.
Feel for holders of cnu...
This analysis makes no sense. They were well priced because we knew they are making money. Now that they are going to make less money unless govt steps in means also a smaller PE so you can't compare values pre and after.
Anyone keen to sell under $2?
