Any Whispers as to what's driving the price???
Sorry, it was me.
Not really, best to look at the Hotcopper form, but long story short, there is rumors that BRL are creating plans (which are apparently secret) to mine Buller... (even though this has been their aim for years and years - a decade even)... nothing confirmed, but one could also read (apart from the substantial financial benefits of finally utilizing Buller) that BRL are confident on SE approval, so confident they are already making plans for 'the next step' being to develop Buller, using SE's distribution and sorting assets.
What does continue to amaze me is that there are some people (jokers?) who have bids in at 2 cents... I have continuously maintained even at 7 something cents, BRL is massively undervalued assuming SE goes ahead, maybe the market is finally waking up to the prospect of Bathurst, a company that nearly went bankrupt a year ago (in my view anyway...) is about to become NZ's largest coal company, with a export coal operation in the millions of tones pa (ie about 8x more production that current domestic only market production)
Can't see alot further upside as everyone awaits the final tick of approval, but the countdown (40 ish days or less I think?) is on, and the odds high.
Interesting times ahead for all BRL holders, and I am personally very confident, assuming SE goes ahead, and the coal price stays at or above $120 US per tonne
T J Just to clarify, were you talking about the "Buller Project" ie Escarpment mine which BRL has already had consented? Or the old Buller underground mine?
I can't recall the old Buller underground mine... but yes I was talking about the already consented first stage of the Buller project, being the Escarpment mine (which was in the early stages of development until it was placed into care and maintenance early in the year due to prevailing economic conditions) Part 2 of the Buller Coal Project will be Whareatea West, before the North Buller permits come on line.
But yes mainly Escarpment...
On another note, BRL have mentioned in the past production can be economical at US $100 a tonne.
any one got a valuation post aquasition of solid energy of brl seem very cheap at present 9 cents. when one looks at stanmore trading at 35/40 cents and producing 1to 1.5 mt a year. they only have a quarter the number of shareholders to brl's, but brl could be producing well over 2mt including north island output.( could brl be worth 20cents plus interested in your reply) jumbo
You need to compare market capitalisation (number of shares * share price) rather than just the share price. Is it just me, or is the ASX website pretty useless? Anyway, other sources such as this site indicate BRL has around 4 x as many shares on issue as SMR, putting them both on very similar market caps.
(Not following BRL closely - just a general observation).
I am not sure if Stanmore Coal is an appropriate comparison, for a start they don't have the huge SE opportunity (which could literally increase BRL's coal output 10x)... BRL have also proven they can make a profit purely out of domestic operations - something it looks like Stanmore can't seem to do (losses getting worse year after year?)
I have not done much investigation into Stanmore so maybe I am wrong, but BRL is in a very unique position.
However, based on my own analysis, with 1.9 billion shares on issue (the maximum amount possible, assuming full conversion, and no full further capital raises), I believe BRL's share price could exceed 30 cents, within a couple of years (1 - 3 years) - with live in exciting, but risky times: the risk being execution, and political (as well as the 'normal' coal price risk - although anything above $100 USD per tonne, BRL have said can make it profitable - this was a while back without SE acquisition, so the costs will likely be even lower with SE's infrastructure already in place - ie more profitable at $100 USD per tonne)
I believe current coal price is in excess of $150 USD per tonne
anyone now when oio come back from holiday, its crazy that its taken this long to get passed. I believe they will pass the SE acquisition not to could close the midline to the coast, as SE must of been the largest user by far, and would be bad for tourisim the coast and nz. I believe BRL's present share price of 9 cents is very low and must put them as one of the best buys on the asx
