Blis Technologies (NZX: BLT) is pleased to announce the signing of an agreement with a significant Australasian cosmetic skincare company to licence our cosmetic facial live probiotic serum containing BLIS Q24®.
The agreement allows for exclusive marketing of the Blis developed serum formulation under the partner’s brand domestically and in export markets where the partner has a significant presence in both retail and online sales.
Further details of the agreement and relationship cannot be disclosed at this time to maintain confidentiality.
Blis CEO Brian Watson said “We are excited to have finalised this first Business to Business relationship for our skincare technology. Our strategy has been to secure partnerships with established regional brands who have the capability to launch this breakthrough product in selected markets. Their problem has always been that they (seem to) have good products, but never been able to sell/market well enough.
I note 2 of the 6 members on their board are their for their marketing experience - ie "international marketing and brand management leader building consumer goods businesses globally." and "is an experienced strategist and brand builder with deep knowledge of consumer marketing."
Yet they still struggle along with poor sales. 63% of their sales are as an ingredient. I suppose better than the 65% prior year.

Products already on the market at $145 a pop, could workout if they have the network to sell to their customers, 7 reviews so far and all quite positive. Thanks to the $9 Million from Probi they will earn a few hundred thousand in interest this year.

We are pleased to report revenue for 1HY24 was up 11% to $4.8m. Key contributors are an increase in Probi royalty revenue from their licensed sales of BLIS K12™ and BLIS M18™, new private label customers in China, and finished product revenue in NZ Pharmacy retail and the Amazon platform. An unaudited loss of $0.7m compares with a loss of $1.7m in the same period last year. EBITDA loss for the interim period was $0.6m, which compares with a $1.2m loss in the previous period. Net cash flow for the interim period was $0.4m decrease.
Got a bit excited when I saw the appt of new CEO. Fresh set of eyes is always good. Did a little diving into the new fellas past experience. Looks like a good steady hand but came into most of his roles after post big growth such as Go Healthy after they sold out to the Asians. Must have actually been brought in by the Chinese outfit. Which is good thing, maybe he'll know how to monetise that market. Share Market not very excited though. Kind of feels like Brian Watson 2.0...Shares down almost 20% on low volume since appointment. Would have thought they would have jumped 20%. Everyone must be selling a few shares in all their "low hope companies" to help pay for xmas .....

Revenue Growth and Profitable Third Quarter
For the third quarter ending 31 Dec 2023, Blis Technologies Limited (Blis) delivered revenue growth of 10% on the same period last year and a positive EBITDA result of $0.3m (unaudited).
Revenue growth came from a 12% increase in B2B revenue and a stronger than expected result for New Zealand and Amazon.
“Momentum continues to build around the successful execution of the refocused strategic plan. This has involved amongst other activities, working closely with business partners to sell more Blis product profitably into B2C and B2B channels.” said Scott Johnson, CEO.
Based on the latest customer sales forecasts and market feedback, guidance is for full year revenue to be about $11.0m, with EBITDA in the range of breakeven to $0.3m. This marks a return to profitability for the company.

Momentum! haha. I dont think 10% is momentum. Barely staying ahead of inflation. Good to remain positive in your announcements, but better to put a stake in the ground and acknowledge that 10% year on year is not acceptable and that revenues will increase at a greater level then 10% year. Once you get to revenues of 100 million then you can start saying 10% is momentum.

Upgraded FY24 earnings guidance
Blis Technologies Limited (NZX:BLT) advises that the draft full year financial results for the 12 months to 31 March 2024 have exceeded previous guidance due to favourable timing of several major customer orders, increased sales across our B2B channels and an underspend in some planned R&D expenditure for this year.
Our latest guidance for the year ended 31 March 2024 is for revenue of $11.5m and EBITDA of $0.8m subject to completion of the annual financial audit.
This is an increase on the previous guidance provided on 23rd February 2024 of revenue of around $11.0m and EBITDA of breakeven to $0.3m.
Blis Technologies’ annual report and financial statements are expected to be released in late May.

Revenue growth and a return to profitabilityIn the year to 31 March 2024, Blis Technologies Ltd (Blis) achieved a return to profitability after two years of operating losses.
The profit for the year was $0.6m, which was in line with guidance. This result was achieved on revenue of $11.5m, which was 12.6% higher than the previous year.Revenue growth was achieved in our Business to Business (B2B) segment, with an 18.2% increase in ingredient sales and royalty income.
Revenue in the Business to Consumer (B2C) area was affected by cost of living pressures on our customers and as a result revenue was consistent with the previous year. The revenue growth combined with a tight control over costs resulted in an improved trading performance. Net profit after tax for the year of $0.6m compares with a loss of $1.4m in the previous financial year.
This year’s result reflects some early success from the Company’s strategy to focus on achieving revenue growth from global ingredient sales and royalty income, under our B2B strategy. The cash surplus from operations improved to $1.1m. Blis continues to be in a strong financial position with cash and cash equivalents and short term deposits of $8.5m.

This one is starting to come on my radar. Just doing some numbers on it now. If they can keep revenue growth at 10%+ and maintain costs (Guessing there are a lot of scale possibilities) then they could double profit or more and make NPAT of about $1.3-$1.5m.... PE of about 10. Is there upside? Plenty of cash, no debt.
Seem ripe for a share consolidation and to get out of the "penny dreadful' range.
But seems to be little downside from here.....the question has always been their ability to sell/market the product.
Thanks SSB, you seem to know more about this company than me. I did have an hour zoom call with Aimee McCammon about a year ago and she came across well and sold the company well. But I was not convinced at that time. Seems they have done well since then and if they can continue the momentum there should be some upside potential. I might have a nibble and like you say, the downside is limited.
A share consolidation would be welcome.
God, I sincerely hope there is some upside. BLT has been in my portfolio since 2005 and I've been looking for upside
almost every year since then.
My wife has often commented about how great it will be when the SP reaches $1.00. I think the only chance of that occurring will be when the 1.3 billion shares are consolidated at 1:100.
I've still got a few years ahead of me yet (hopefully) so there's still a chance that something might work for BLT and the tide finally turns - but I'm definitely not banking on it happening in my lifetime.
I would suggest you approach this share with a great deal of caution.
Haha. Icecream is just one of the many kites they've attempted to fly. There's also been skincare, a move into the Canadian retail market, a go at the China market and many others that have crashed to the ground. Our only hope is that the shareholding link with Swedish company Probi, eventually brings some ingredient sales and some profit.
I've been on board too long now, at a very modest entry cost, to consider jumping ship, so maybe one day the ship will limp into port.

Strong first quarter supports profitable full year outlook
BLIS Technologies Limited (BLIS) delivers revenue growth of 23% and EBITDA of $0.5m for the first quarter ending 30 June 2024 (1Q25).
Revenue for 1Q25 was $3.4m, an increase of $0.6m compared with the same period past year. EBITDA was up $0.5m on the breakeven result from 1Q24.
“Revenue for the first quarter of FY25 grew across both B2B and B2C sales channels. B2B revenue grew 19% on 1Q24, with a portion of this growth attributable to carry over of US customer orders from the previous quarter which will be specific to this period only. B2C revenues grew by 31%, including NZ wholesale, Amazon USA and BLIS webstore, while Daigou revenues reduced significantly due to the rationalisation of operators in the market.
Over the last 2 years the BLIS strategy has been all about focus to deliver sustainable profitability. Our ‘go to market’ strategy involves validating the key markets for our products, working with established business partners in those markets and supporting market access requirements. China represents a high growth market for probiotic products. Recent changes in the scientific classification of BLIS strains (streptococcus salivarius) in the China market has required new regulatory approvals to be sought. As a result, an investment of $0.5m is being made in FY25 to provide continued access to the China market for BLIS and its business partners.
The outlook for the FY25 year is double digit revenue growth on FY24 and an EBITDA result similar to last year, noting the result will include a material investment in China regulatory access of $0.5m.” said Scott Johnson, CEO.

The rumblings of improvement remind me of the 2nd half of 2019. Started climbing. Hit a another gear on their October update then. Popped during the Christmas break. Is it on another roll
I hope they have better direction now. I spoke with their Chair Geoff Plunkett a few days ago. He seemed focused on their new strategy as outlined in the chairs address in the annual report.
I had a nibble a few weeks ago at 1.5 and topped up this morning at 1.9.
Time will tell if they will deliver and manage to scale their product.
Any roll with BLT seems inevitably to turn into a roller coaster.
I've been on board since 2005 and have seen so many promising starts crash and burn, but maybe "this time it's different".
It's definitely nice to get some relatively positive news but I will just sit and wait to see if the momentum continues.

You and me both pierre... I was a shareholder when Howard Patterson was involved and remained holding since then. I was buying BLT when they were on the secondary board. Jeez that must 25 years ago?? Needless to say, I'm sitting on a 95% loss on my investment. I was given a nudge at the time by someone close to Mr HP and was told to get into BLT or ATM (2cents per share back then). You guessed it, I went with BLT as it was around the time of the big biotech boom.. So here I am still waiting for BLT to turn a corner and cursing my poor decision not to get into ATM at 2 cents per share. Happy days :)

Following the AGM online. The CEO is talking about "B" Corp or "Bullsh*t" corp to which they have signed up and align with their values. I don't like the sound of that. Seems like wasting resources better utilised to growing revenues.
Yeah I know. Someone at the meeting did ask a question whether they should be part of this. This was parried by an "it does not cost us any more to what we are already doing".
But the questions I have, is what is it they are doing, that they don't really need to be doing.
O well, if they can continue revenue growth for a little while longer then thats ok.
What really pissed me off, was that I submitted a question via the portal (online), and my question was not answered. I have informed the NZSA and let them know I am not happy about it. Lets hope they can have some positive influence with the company.
My question was innocuous enough, regarding an earlier dividend question and a follow up, but that is not the point. The point is they ignored it.
