Ah come on, the needs of the many outweigh the few? A fragmented China was vulnerable and exploited. It has been said China is the only country where communism works, maybe we should give it another three years?

going and tell that to Ai WeiWei...:scared:
think maybe its time for NZ to get with the program and look at buying some defence systems like the UK sky sabre. Those Hercules were banking hard and low out of the mount last week.
that was not normal flight path for aircraft out of the mount.
Norway is reported to be buying up to 60 f35's.
obviously NZ cant afford those but air and sea defence is going to be a major discussion going forward and after this GOVT performance they will probably buy wooden electric waka's for lake Taupo defence combined with tourism promotions.
- Belarus may soon attack Ukraine and is preparing to potentially let Russia position nuclear weapons on Belarusian soil, a senior Nato intelligence official warned. The official said the conflict in Ukraine was on the verge of entering a stalemate, with Ukrainian forces preventing Russia from making progress but the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, showing no willingness to back down.

Russia has warned of a breach of its relations with Washington and summoned the US ambassador in Moscow for an official protest over Joe Biden’s labelling of Vladimir Putin as a war criminal, as the US president held talks with European allies on efforts to stop the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Jennifer Rankin and Julian Borger report.
Biden talked to the leaders of the UK, France, Germany and Italy on Monday as part of his effort to maintain a unified front against Moscow, amid signs of cracks within the EU on how far to go in imposing sanctions on Russian oil and gas.
The Russian foreign ministry said it had summoned the US ambassador, John Sullivan, for a meeting over “recent unacceptable statements” by Biden about Putin, days after Biden called Putin a “war criminal” amid the bombardment of Ukrainian cities.
The ministry said in a statement that “it was emphasised that remarks such as these by the American president, which are unworthy of a state figure of such a high rank, put Russian-American relations on the verge of a breach”.
The US and Russia maintained diplomatic relations from 1933, throughout the Cold War, but relations between Washington and Moscow have become far more volatile since Putin embarked on a campaign of territorial expansion.
The UK, France, Albania, Ireland and Norway have also accused Russia of war crimes in Ukraine.
The UN’s International Court of Justice has ordered Moscow to halt its invasion, and the prosecutor at the International Criminal Court has launched a war crimes investigation.
I read where Israel won't be condeming Russia for the invasion of Ukraine.IMO there is more to this than the Israelis are saying and i believe deals have been done.
I wonder why the UK too does not support Russian territorial claims. After all, it had made sure its own Donbas-type region in neighbouring Ireland (Northern Ireland) was hived off, while the rest of Ireland became independent of the UK. Ireland remains partitioned to this day.
The Republic of Ireland is neutral too. The UK would certainly become agitated if the Republic of Ireland wanted to become militarily linked to Russia.

Mstyslav Chernov is a video journalist for The Associated Press. This is his account of the siege of Mariupol, as documented with photographer Evgeniy Maloletka and told to correspondent Lori Hinnant.
So on the evening of Feb. 23, Mstyslav Chernov headed to Mariupol with long-time colleague Evgeniy Maloletka, a Ukrainian photographer for The Associated Press, in his white Volkswagen van.
In Mariupol one bomb at a time, the Russians cut electricity, water, food supplies and finally, crucially, the cell phone, radio and television towers. The few other journalists in the city got out before the last connections were gone and a full blockade settled in.
The absence of information in a blockade accomplishes two goals.
Chaos is the first. People don’t know what’s going on, and they panic. At first I couldn’t understand why Mariupol fell apart so quickly. Now I know it was because of the lack of communication.
Impunity is the second goal. With no information coming out of a city, no pictures of demolished buildings and dying children, the Russian forces could do whatever they wanted. If not for us, there would be nothing.
On 15 March Ukrainian soldiers risked their lives to extract them from the bombed maternity hospital.
“If the Russians catch you, they will get you on camera and they will make you say that everything you filmed is a lie,” he said. “All your efforts and everything you have done in Mariupol will be in vain.”
The officer, who had once begged us to show the world his dying city, now pleaded with us to go. He nudged us toward the thousands of battered cars preparing to leave Mariupol.
